Well the first snag in the schedule has hit us at BNA. Our outbound plane is stuck in Dulles, where we have to fly to,  and we may miss our flight to Frankfurt because our turnaround window is getting tight.  We are using the time get to know each other better,  try out the comfortable floor and test our patience.  I just heard the loudspeaker announce 15 minutes till our alone lands so praying for a smooth transfer and a strong tailwind.

Countdown to Germany – 5 Days

The weeks have quickly gone by and now it is down to 5 days before I leave for Germany with Deb and 8 others from FBC. Those who know me know I am a process driven organizer and have things all laid out mentally and physically yet something tells me I need to be open for the unknown. Jimmy, our groups leader, keeps telling us all to be “Flexible”. He has done about 9 of these trips so I take him at his word and have a process for Flexibility as well. 🙂 Our plane leaves BNA Friday at 6:34 PM for Dulles and then a 10:50 PM departure to Frankfurt. I have been instructed to take Sleeping Pills and something I have never heard of called “No Jet Lag”! What a perfect name for a miracle potion that really works according to my sources. I have ordered it from Amazon and it is supposed to be in my hands tomorrow. Even with the pills and potions, I am not sure I will be able to sleep as I love to fly and can’t wait to finally land in Germany at 11:45 AM Saturday to begin what I believe will be the most exciting time of my life.

Edgar and Birgit, our home hosts in Lich, I can’t wait to meet you.  Kiki Ha and Ing Hass, I look forward to getting to know you at your home in Potsdam. How cool to visit Europe the first time and be able to stay with “The Locals”.

The past week, Deb and I have felt the prayers of many of you reading this. I especially say thanks to Eric, Brittany and Nate Gruhn, and Dan and Dian Belbeck. It is an honor to have you lift us and the team up to God. To those that have supported us financially, a big thank you. We had not even planned on putting in the financial info in our info letter. We don’t need it but God will Bless you richly and multiply it in many ways.

I will make a commitment to share my experiences here daily. I promise to post pictures and anecdotes and ways God uses this trip to bring Glory to His name—-Todd Wilson

Guten Tag

I don’t speak German. Germany is not on my bucket list of places to go. I have relatives in Scandinavia not the Deutschland! Yet………I am going to Germany this March. As a tourist? No! I am going with 9 others, including my wife Deb, on an FBC Missions Trip to Seeheim and Potsdam Germany. We will be working, encouraging, serving at 2 facilities for 10 days. The Giessen School of Theology, south of Frankfurt in Seeheim and Mittendrin Church in Potsdam just outside Berlin.

I have wanted to go on a missions trip for a long time. The timing was never right. God has now chosen this time for His purpose and I am excited to be a part of it. As I am well into the second half of life, I have adopted this verse as my goal.

Acts 20:24 “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me. My only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me. The task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”

I have never been outside of the US and have never experienced any other culture but ours. We have churches everywhere, people speak freely and openly of “God”. Most everyone knows about Jesus Christ and has heard the Gospel message. East Germany is 85% Atheist/Agnostic. I  want to run the race and work on the task in that environment. Mittendrin means “In the thick of it” What better place to grow and stretch my faith than that.
