I grew up in a Christian home and learned about Jesus, and the Gospel Message at a young age. I heard that Jesus was God’s Son, came to earth as a man, lived a perfect life without sin, died on the cross for my sin, was buried and rose again to one day return and make all things new. I knew I was a sinner and accepted Jesus as my Savior many times before I was a teenager.
I truly believed John 3:16, Yet, as I lived my life I struggled with doubts about my faith. Was I truly a Christian? Was I going to Heaven? Why didn’t my actions line up with my faith! I went through the motions of being religious at Church and Home and Worldly everywhere else.
I was in college and again struggling with doubts of my salvation and how to live the Christian life. God put it on my heart to MARK it down in my Bible. I wrote “Sept 8, 1976 LeTourneau College “Accepted Christ – Recommitted my life to the Lord “. I have looked at those words numerous times over the years to remind me of MY commitment to God.
God also made a commitment to me. The Bible (Ephesians 1:13) tells of Christ’s Mark on those who believe. “I was included in Christ when I heard the message of truth, the gospel of my salvation. When I believed I was Marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing my inheritance,until the redemption of those who are God’s possession-to the praise of His glory.”I made my commitment and God made His. Nothing I Do or Don’t Do can change that.
God has given me Purpose-To live a Wholehearted Life in Jesus where my Thoughts, Emotions, Desires and Choices are centered on bringing Glory to God and the Good News of the Gospel to those I meet while encouraging people to discover Values and Routines that have a positive outcome and make Decisions that set them free. My Foundation of Values and Routines are an Acrostic I call Giant Spaces, that keep me grounded with a Renewed Mind, Healthy Relationships, Satisfied Soul and Active Faith
God is in Control and the Source of all Joy in my life
I am Secure In Jesus and the Holy Spirit is at work in me
Always Thankful in All Circumstances
Nothing Separates me from the Love of God in Christ Jesus
Trust that God has me where He wants me
Scripture is my life’s guide the source of all Truth
Prayer is my Communication Link to God that I may know Him
Armor of God is Put On to protect me from the world
Clothe myself with the Fruit of the Spirit
Engage the power of the Holy Spirit
Saint by the Cross of Jesus Christ
Life has hit me with some real curves. parenting failures, career challenges, disappointment in myself, disillusionment with God. These challenges though, are what God used In Me to Seek Him and know the Giant Spaces I can go to. My questions are answered and doubts gone. I am a Christian. I am going to heaven. I have purpose. No other path could have been better.
